Nora AMPOVA, Bulgaria

Memory Pool, 2025,

100 x 100cm, Acrylic on canvas

“In this work I explore the quiet tension between presence and distance, contemplation and action. An anonymous figure contemplates a distant landscape – at once familiar and abstract. The mountain metaphorically paints a portrait of Europe, which is constantly changing and dynamic, yet stable and age-old. The pool is a space filled with light, through which we can meditatively travel into the subconscious towards the future.
As part of “Portrait of Europe”, this work is my attempt to represent a place and a state of mind: Europe as a space of contemplation, dreams, and transformation.”
